SHIAN-LI KELLY-WILLIAMS, MASTERS STUDENT

Shian-Li is ecstatic to be joining the BSRG for the final year of her integrated Master’s degree. The last three years studying Biology at Oxford have enhanced her interests in animal behaviour, welfare, and human-wildlife conflicts, from exploring how to reduce mortality rates in wildlife rehabilitation to exploring eukaryotic microbiome compositions. She has thus gained and thoroughly enjoyed a variety of experiences in fieldwork, laboratory research, and bioinformatics. She has also honed her computing and analytical skills through internships at AFRY and ERI, where she worked on dissecting sustainability in the corporate world. Spurred on by this culmination of knowledge, she is eager to delve into her Master’s project: studying the effects of free-ranging dogs on carnivore-livestock encounter rates at bomas in Central Kenya.

Excited to grow and apply her biological and computing skills, Shian-Li aims to contribute to evidence-based conservation strategies and create real-world impact through her research.
