DR. SARAH RAYMOND, RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Sarah received an MSci in Biology from the University of Nottingham, followed by carrying out a PhD in Biosciences at Cardiff University. Her PhD research focused on the impacts of roads on wildlife within the UK, using citizen science data alongside complex spatial and statistical analyses. She investigated topics such as the effects of the COVID-19 ‘lockdowns’ on roadkill composition; predicting European badger roadkill hotspots and environmental drivers; mapping and quantifying roadless areas within Great Britain; and assessing the threat posed to human safety as a result of animal-vehicle collisions.
Sarah’s research within the Biodiversity & Sustainability group focuses on assessing the impacts of critical mineral mining on biodiversity, on both a global and regional scale. She will also work with corporate partners to identify areas where improvements to biodiversity impact evaluations could be made.
